Another Defender Signs!

In a move that some will see as strange, caretaker manager Kevin Nugent has re-signed 18 year old defender Jordan Spence on loan from West Ham until the end of the season.

Spence was on loan at the O's for six weeks earlier in the season making just one start in the cup win at Bradford. Of undoubted talent and future potential (he is in the U19 squad for the forthcoming game against Spain and highly rated by Zola), Spence joins Brian Saah and the newly signed Luke Ashworth in a now crowded fight for the spot occupied more often than not by Alton Thelwell.

Given the truly dire scoring record and the need for more creativity in midfield this signing may not be viewed by fans as the one to get Orient out of the relegation zone. Cynics may say though that this may be paving the way for the sale of Tamika Mkandawire.

Spence will wear the 28 shirt again which will at least save some shirt printing money as it is the same number he wore in his previous loan spell.
