Heald who suffered hip and and hernia injuries earlier this season has been unable to claim back his first team place and has made only nine appearances this season. Martin Ling was unable to guarantee him a first team place for next season saying, "He wanted to stay in the league, so as soon as anyone came in for him we let him know and we wish him the best of luck at Rochdale."
Heald is expected to play for Rochdale tonight against Huddersfield in a match where both teams are desperate for points, albeit for different reasons
