Cosmos are a recently reformed side, having been disbanded in 1985, before which time they featured the likes of Pele and Franz Beckenbauer.

They will compete in the second tier of the North American Soccer League this year, with the likes of European Championship winner Marcos Senna recently recruited in a bid to return the team to its former glory.

On Leyton Orient's official website, Giovanni Savarese, Cosmos head coach, has been quoted as saying: "I?m looking forward to taking our squad to the UK.

"The chance to train and play in a different environment and face Orient will benefit our team and our preseason preparations."

Meanwhile, Orient's chief executive, Matt Porter, said: "We are delighted to be hosting the Cosmos at the Matchroom and look forward to welcoming them and their followers.

"This is the latest in a line of exciting announcement this summer and a rare opportunity to see the O?s take on opponents from across the Atlantic so we are hoping for a great turnout in E10."
