The Os' hopes of snatching a play-off place were extinguished as they crashed to a 3-0 defeat against Tranmere on Saturday.
But they can still look back on a memorable campaign which included a club-record 14-match unbeaten run and a famous FA Cup draw against Arsenal.
"We're disappointed we haven't taken it to the final day but we do recognise it has been a decent season," said Nugent.
"The supporters were absolutely fantastic. They appreciate the way we play and we want to make this team evolve even more for next season."
