Simpson has been a regular in the Wycombe side for the past four seasons and has over 400 professional career starts, but was released by Tony Adams at the end of last season.
Following the close season signings of Lee Steele, Alan White and Wayne Carlisle, Simpson may be the final piece of Ling's jigsaw, providing the midfield experience that was sadly lacking last season.
