A very strange few days in the history of Leyton Orient. Manager sacked and no replacement - letter to shareholders dated 27 January outlining a plan by Barry Hearn's Matchroom Company to buy the ground lease for £6mn - press conference called for noon on 30 January (agenda unknown)- rumours of takeover by persons unknown but possibly Simon Fuller- football agent and Beckham advisor Terry Byrne linked to club - press conference postponed.

This morning (30 Jan) following mounting media speculation that Terry Byrne was discussing purchasing the club the following statement has appeared on the club's official website:

"Owner and Chairman Barry Hearn is in discussions with a consortium of investors headed by Terry Byrne with regards to the future ownership of the football club."

David Beckham has announced through a spokesman that he has no involvement in the consortium negotiating with Barry Hearn.
