Teenage defender Aiden Palmer has been called up on stand by for the England U19 squad to face Belgium at Darlington next month. Palmer, who deputised for the injured Matthew Lockwood in the Carling Cup game against Luton Town this week, made a number of excellent performances for the O's first team towards the end of last season and it is these performances that have earned him his call up.

Palmer is the second young Orient player to gain international recognition this week, following Gaby Zakuani's appearance for The Congo in a friendly against Guinea.
