Shaker Stirred

The Brisbane Road silence has at last been broken with the announcement that the O's have signed out of contract goalkeeper Glyn Garner from Bury.

Dissapointing the Bury fans, Garner turned down an offer of a new contract with the Shakers for what was described by the Bury manager as a "fantastic" offer from the Orient .

Garner, 28, made 144 appearances for Bury after taking over from Paddy Kenny, following the latter's departure to Bramall Lane, and became a highly rated keeper reportedly on the verge of a Welsh cap.

Orient boss Martin Ling said, "He's a big commanding keeper who is widely rated as one of the best in the lower divisions," adding, "Now that I've got that position sorted I will turn my attentions to filling the other pieces of the jigsaw over the next few weeks."
