Threesome

Martin Ling has secured the sevices of top rated players, Gary Alexander, Matt Lockwood and Jabo Ibehre for the foreseeable future as all three players signed new contracts yesterday. Alexander and Lockwood have signed three year deals whilst Ibehre signed on a two year deal.

The three re-signings are an important foundation for next season as Ling seeks to re-shape the team with a more experienced squad than he has currently.

Whilst Ibehre is still something of an enigma, Ling firmly believes that there is big potential still to be found in him. Alexander and Lockwood however are proven quality players. Alexander having somehow managed to score 13 times this season despite the too prevalent lack of support from the midfield and his various striking partners, and Lockwood is undoubtedly one of the best defenders in the lower divisions.

Are there more players to come following this weeks signing of Andy Scott? The answer would appear to be yes, as, according to Ling, " Everyone I'm bringing in will be proven and will have been there and done it all." In the past this would actually have meant bringing in an old lag from that other east london team, let's hope this will not be the case this time.
