Neither side could break the deadlock as Leyton Orient keeper Glenn Morris and his Torquay counterpart Arjan Van Heusden stole the show.

Both sides had chances - with Morris making a smart stop from Tony Bedeau five minutes from time allowing Orient to stretch their unbeaten home run to five matches.

O's boss Martin Ling said afterwards: "To be honest I thought that Torquay were the slightly better side.

"But it was a day when both goalkeepers came out on top. At least we played at a good tempo - which we have got to do this season if we want to be successful." Torquay skipper Craig Taylor admitted: "It was a hard-fought game. Both sides had their chances and a draw was just about the right result.

"Away from home this is a good point for us but it wasn't really a 0-0 game - both goalkeepers made some great saves." It was Morris who set the tone for the afternoon with an excellent save from Bedeau's close-range header after just 12 minutes as Torquay were quick out of the blocks.

But Orient recovered and almost took the lead on 19 minutes only for Van Heusden to brilliantly tip Gary Alexander's 20-yard drive around the post and from the resultant corner O's defender Mark Peters saw his header clip the top of the bar.

Torquay should have gone ahead six minutes before the break when Bedeau's pace took him clear of the Orient rearguard but Morris smothered his shot and David Graham lashed the rebound wide But Orient finished the half strongly and it was Van Heusden who came to Torquay's rescue just before the break when he pushed away Wayne Purse's close-range header following a Tom Newey cross from the left.

After the break Van Heusden made a super double save as he tipped away Matthew Lockwood's shot and then pushed Jabo Ibehre's header over the bar.

As the game wore on neither side looked capable of forcing a winner as Torquay - after going 33 games without a goalless draw - made it two in succession.
