New Wycombe caretaker-boss midfielder Keith Ryan saw his side come from behind in a stunning second half display to dent Leyton Orient's title challenge.
Orient had led at half time thanks to Wayne Carlisle's 29th minute free-kick that deceived Wycombe keeper Frank Talia. But Wycombe came storming back as Nathan Tyson levelled before Roger Johnson headed a winner on 67 minutes.
In a stormy second half Orient had midfield man David Hunt sent off for a challenge on Tyson that sparked a mass brawl while referee Kevin Friend also had to leave the field near the end after colliding with Danny Senda.
In a game that exploded into life after the break, caretaker Ryan saw his side show tremendous fighting spirit as they inflicted only Orient's second home defeat of the season.
His half-time teamtalk appeared to do the trick as the second half was just three minutes old when Justin Miller's disastrous back pass fell neatly into the path of Tyson who fired into the net.
Wycombe fully deserved their success and their comeback was complete when Senda sent in the perfect free-kick from the right and defender, Johnson reacted first to head the ball home from close range.
The game boiled over on 74 minutes when Hunt failed Tyson with an x-certificate challenge and after the brawl subsided the Orient midfielder saw red whilst Senda was also booked in the closing stages.
Orient threw men forward in a desperate bid to salvage the point but despite almost 10 minutes of stoppage time Wycombe held firm to give Ryan the perfect present in his first game in charge.
The second half was in marked contrast to an uninspiring first 45 minutes where clear cut chances were few and far between. Tyson, the constant threat with this pace, riggled clear on 15 minutes but Orient keeper Lee Harrison blocked his effort with his feet.
While Orient's only effort on target during the entire game came when Carlisle's free-kick on 29 minutes deceived the visiting keeper and rolled into the net from 330 yards.
